According to the Ministry of Finance, the federal government’s budget deficit in the fiscal year 2077/78 was 7.1 percent of GDP. In the fiscal year 2076/77, the deficit was 8.2 percent.
The government expenditure-to-GDP ratio was 28.1 percent in FY 2076/77 and 28.0 percent in FY 2077/78. During this time, the ratios of current spending to capital expenditure and financial management expenditure to GDP were 19.8%, 5.4 percent, and 2.8 percent, respectively.
