Congress wins Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan chief, Jasapa wins deputy chief

Kathmandu, May 20

In the Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan area, both alliance candidates won.

Prashant Bista of the Nepali Congress (NC) won by a landslide against Pashupati Dayal Mishra of the CPN (UML). With 23 thousand 460 votes, he was elected. UML’s Mishra received 11,675 votes, while RPP’s Nandalal Vaishya received 7,598 votes.

In the Deputy Chief election, Kamaruddin Rai of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) won. By
17,950 votes, he defeated UML’s Shanti Dhakal. According to Nagendra Chaulagain, Assistant Election Officer at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Dhakal received 10,915 votes, while RPP’s Bindu Chartimagar received 10,135 votes.

The total number of voters in Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city was 81,794, with 61,205 votes cast. In the sub-metropolitan constituency, 1,049 votes were cast. JSP has won six wards in the 23-ward sub-metropolis, Congress has won five, UML has won five, UCPN-M has won four, and RPP has won three. So far, the outcomes of three village councils in Banke have been made public. Congress and one of the coalition candidates were elected in two communities.
