Preparations for 2566th Buddha Jayanti completed

Kathmandu, May 15

The 2566th Buddha Jayanti and Lumbini Day preparations are now complete. Every year on the full moon day of Baisakh Shukla, Buddha Jayanti is celebrated with a variety of events.

Because Gautama Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and Mahaparinirvana all occurred on the full moon day of Baishakh Shukla, Buddhists refer to this day as Trisanyoga Day.

Sanuraja Shakya, Member Secretary of the Lumbini Development Fund, has announced that the Buddha Jayanti program has been finished. The Mayadevi temple, he claims, has been cleaned and repainted. Work on beautification has already begun in other locations.

New Buddha Bachan, Vani, and Panchshil banners have been hung in between. Outside, a gate has been built to greet the guests. In comparison to past years, Lumbini has been specially decorated this year. According to the Development Fund, the previous Buddha Jayanti was not celebrated due to the Corona pandemic.

On Buddha Jayanti, Lumbini will also see the opening of a worldwide Buddhist gathering hall and meditation facility. In four years, the conference hall with state-of-the-art facilities that was started under the national pride program was finished. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will provide the opening remarks during the gathering.

The summit, which had been scheduled for three years, was postponed one year due to the
Corona pandemic. The 5,000-seat assembly hall’s main infrastructural work was finished in the first phase, while the finishing and beauty work was completed in the second. On the occasion of the 2562nd Buddha Jayanti on April 30, 2018, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari placed the foundation stone.

Four helipads worth Rs 7.5 million have also been built near the meeting hall, according to Saroj Bhattarai, the development fund’s planning chief. ”We had contracted for the building of three helipads, including a road park, according to the Lumbini Master Plan,” he stated, ”but now we have built four helipads with a simple change in design.”

On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, Dhundiraj Bhattarai, treasurer of the fund and coordinator of the publicity sub-committee, announced that a unique program will be organized for four days in Tilaurakot of Devadaha and Kapilbastu. According to him, a unique event would be organized today at Ramgram in Nawalparasi on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti and Lumbini Day. On May 15, Lumbini will host a unique Buddha Jayanti ceremony. According to Bhattarai, the fund spent Rs 10 million for Buddha Jayanti and Lumbini Day celebrations.

On the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Lumbini on Monday. He will meet Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on his visit to Nepal. Lumbini’s security has been tightened as a result (Sourced from Nagarik).
