Bangladesh bans all government officials from visiting

Kathmandu, May 13

All government officials in Bangladesh are banned from traveling abroad.
Since the economy has reached a critical moment since Covid, travel abroad has been
prohibited in the development budget and all other budgets. After Covid, the Bangladesh
government claims to have implemented a number of policies to enhance the economy. All
government officials have been called to assist with these activities by the Ministry of Finance.

All official visits have been stopped, according to a statement released by the finance ministry on Thursday.

Non-luxury imports have also been banned by Bangladesh’s central bank. The central bank has implemented economic reform and fiscal policies. Government officials were also prohibited from visiting abroad or importing expensive goods under the program.

Due to decreasing foreign exchange reserves, the Bangladeshi government has restricted the import of non-essential products, including food.

The finance minister of Nepal should also review such steps taken by other countries. Since we might face an economic crisis in the near future, we could also work on taking such preventive steps. But the way the Bangladesh government is working, we might not be able to implement as our leaders are not much concerned about Nepal’s economy for which they would sacrifice incentives and travel allowances.
