The government could not spend even half of the allocated budget in nine months

Kathmandu, May 3

The government has spent Rs. 794.25 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2078/79.

The amount spent by the government in the last nine months, according to the Ministry of
Finance, is 15.03 percent higher than the amount spent in the same time the previous fiscal year.

This fiscal year, the government’s current expenditure was Rs. 625.50 billion, up 18.68 percent over the previous fiscal year’s similar period.

The government has spent Rs. 103.78 billion on capital projects in the previous nine months. This is 1.94 percent less than the previous year’s similar period. The financial management has been Rs. 64.96 billion in the last nine months.

For the current fiscal year, the government has budgeted a total budget of Rs. 1632.82 billion. The government has not been able to spend even half of the budgeted sum after nine months of the current fiscal year.
