Kathmandu, April 28
Sher Bahadur Deuba, the president of the Nepali Congress, has encouraged party officials and cadres to drop their rebellious candidacy.
Deuba urged that the independent candidacy filed against the party’s official candidate and the alliance be withdrawn in a statement released on Thursday.
He said that the five parties, including the Congress, have established an alliance to preserve the new constitution, protect democratic ideals, and oppose anti-democratic and pro tendencies.
He stated that he was aware of a circumstance in which one equally deserving colleague was denied the opportunity to stand for election. I urge people to use sacrifice, unity, and
determination, as well as a high degree of cooperation with the ruling coalition parties, to make the campaign a success.
