UML to field Keshav Sthapit for Kathmandu Mayorship

Kathmandu, April 24

CPN-UML field Keshav Sthapit as its candidate for mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the upcoming local election.

The party’s secretariat meeting held at the residence of Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Saturday has decided to award the mayoral ticket to the ex-Kathmandu mayor and the current provincial lawmaker of Bagmati.

Sunita Dangol has been chosen by the UML to contest for deputy mayor.

Likewise, Harikrishna Byanjankar has been nominated as the UML candidate for the post of
mayor in Lalitpur, Manjali Shakya Bajracharya as the candidate for deputy mayor, Deepak
Poudel as the candidate of the mayor, and Manju Devi Gurung as deputy mayor of Pokhara,
Bijay Subedi as the mayoral candidate for Bharatpur and Bijay Sarawagi as the mayoral
candidate for Birgunj.

Except for Janakpur and Jitpur Simara, the UML candidates for sub-metropolitan cities have
been decided in other places.

Accordingly, Rana Bahadur Chand will stand for the post of mayor and Chandrakala Rana Tharu for the post of deputy mayor of Dhangadhi, Pashupati Dayal Mishra is the party’s mayoral candidate, and Shantidevi Dhakal the deputy mayor candidate for Nepalgunj, Tikaram Khadka as the mayoral candidate and Sani Chaudhary as the deputy mayoral candidate for Tulsipur.

Furthermore, Narulal Chaudhary has been nominated for mayor, and Mankumari DC has been nominated as deputy mayor of Ghorahi.

According to Gurung, the Chief of the Publicity Department, some of the candidates have not been finalized due to the possibility of forming an alliance with other political parties.
