A delegation of NADA Automobiles Association of Nepal (NADA), a trade association for car
dealers, has urged Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma to allow vehicle imports. According to a committee led by NADA Chairman Dhrub Thapa, it will generate more than Rs 150 billion in revenue per year. As a result, they’ve asked for the banks and financial institutions to remove the barriers to LC opening.

Sharma advised not to be worried because the restrictions on private car imports were only in place for a limited time. ‘The country’s economy is currently under stress. ”At this time, everyone should work together for the economy’s development, so don’t object to the restrictions on private car imports,” he added. He explained that the restrictions on importing automobiles were only in place for a limited period and asked them to bear with him.

As there is a lack of sufficient space for exhibitions of national and international products,
NADA Chairman Thapa urged that funding be allocated for the development of a well-equipped exhibition facility. He said that over Rs 350 billion has been spent in the car industry and that more than 98,000 people are employed directly in the nation.

Vice President Rajan Babu Shrestha discussed the potential consequences of stopping
automobile imports into Nepal. Another Vice President, Sunil Rijal, requested an
unique monitoring system to check the smuggling of spare parts across Nepal’s borders during the meeting. Surendra Upreti, the Secretary-General, also recommended that a favorable atmosphere be created for the formation of a car sector in Nepal.
