The Department of Foreign Employment has started issuing institutional labor permits
completely online from Friday.
Director-General of the Department of Foreign Employment, Shesh Narayan Poudel said with all the work related to the labor permit taken online, the Foreign Employment Office, Tahachal has also taken the institutional labor permit online.
The department has been re-issuing labor permits online since January 16.
Congestion in the foreign employment office has decreased since the introduction of online
personal and institutional labor permits. The office used to be attended by thousands before the reform.
The department has issued a notification informing the licensed organizations, service seekers, and all other stakeholders concerned that institutional labor permits will be issued only through the online system.
Stating that the online applications will be approved based on providing the first service to the first coming service-seeker, the department has requested to apply online for a labor permit at least three days in advance.
Last month, as many as 53,457 people were issued labor permits from the department. Of
them, 48,746 were males while 4,714 were females. The majority of people who were issued the labor permits were unskilled workers.
According to the department, eight highly skilled, 68 professionals, 4,996 semi-skilled, 23,066 skilled and 25,319 unskilled workers have obtained labor permits so far.
