Kathmandu, April 6
Rana Bahadur Tamang, the Chairperson of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality, was assaulted in
Bachchhala, Dhading district.
A group of people attacked Tamang, who is also the Nepali Congress (NC) Province
Constituency President, in the course of a discussion held to recommend the party’s candidate for ward chairperson for the upcoming local elections.
Chairperson Tamang said a group led by NC cadre Raju Pakhrin had attacked him when a
discussion regarding ticket recommendation was underway.
Pakhrin and Tamang had been engaged in a dispute regarding ward-3 ticket recommendation from the party.
Injured Tamang is undergoing treatment at Satyadevi Health Post. Police arrested Pakhrin last night. Investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
