Kathmandu, April 5

The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project’s execution should be quickened, according to Finance Minister Janardan Sharma Prabhakar.

Minister Sharma said in a virtual meeting with MCC Deputy Vice President Jonathan A. Brooks, MCC National Director (Acting) Sanjay Poudel, US Embassy in Nepal Political Expert Rosie Kattel, and a representative from the Ministry of Finance that the project should not be delayed even though there is one year left.

Although there were some issues with the parliament’s approval of MCC, they have stated that they will not allow any issues to arise during the implementation phase. ”The MCC is an economic initiative, and ordinary Nepalis believe it will be implemented soon.”

As a result, it is not appropriate to undertake the project within a year; rather, it should be
implemented as soon as possible,” he stated.

Deputy Vice President Jonathan A. Brooks expressed confidence in the project’s ability to assist Nepal’s economy to grow in a favorable manner during the virtual meeting. He praised Finance Minister Sharma for his leadership in getting the project approved.
