The five-party alliance formed by the Nepali Congress (NC) is deciding on the modality of
electoral alliance in the upcoming local elections.
A meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday to decide on the modalities of coordination as
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba returned home on Sunday evening after he visited India.
Since the coalition decided to ally for the upcoming local elections on May 13, discussions on coordination and its modalities have started at all levels, from the state to the municipality.
However, dissatisfaction has been seen within the Congress-led coalition on the issue.
Shekhar Koirala’s faction has been insistent that the Nepali Congress not forge an electoral
alliance with the Maoist Center.
