ID card mandatory for travel to India by train

Kathmandu, April 1

Once the Janakpur-Jaynagar Rail Service begins on Saturday, it will be mandatory for travelers to travel to India by rail to have an identity card with them.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is visiting India on Friday. PM Deuba and his Indian
counterpart Narendra Modi are scheduled to inaugurate the Railway Service via the virtual
medium on Saturday during his three-day visit to India.

Once the railway comes under operation, those Nepali nationals traveling to India by train are required to carry their identity card with them – Citizenship, Passport, or Voter ID, according to Niranjan Jha, General Manager of Nepal Railway Company.

In addition, a recommendation letter or certificate with photo issued by the Consulate General is mandatory in the case of an emergency entry.

Similarly, those children aged between 10 to 18 are required to carry their school identity card for the same.
