The budget for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2079/80 is expected to put excessive pressure on the revenue. Every fiscal year, the government has increased the size of the budget while also raising the income target.

We must depend on imports for revenue because imports account for around half of Nepal’s overall revenue. Imports generated 48.63 percent of income, according to figures published by the Customs Department till March of the current fiscal year.

Since imports represent half of the income target, the government must rely on import money for nearly four-quarters of its spending. As a result, if the government does not prioritize imports, the government’s income objective would be missed. This information is available on a daily basis in the business world.
