Kathmandu, April 1

Today is the Ghode Jatra celebration, which takes place every year on the day of Chaitra
Krishna Aunsi. On the occasion of Jatra, the Kathmandu Valley has declared a public holiday.

Horse art, motorbike sports, physical exercises, martial arts, and other activities are now being practiced in Tundikhel on behalf of the Nepal Army. The President and Vice President will be among the officials attending the special event held by the Nepal Army at Tundikhel.

Gurumapa, a monster said to live in a tree on the east-south side of Tundikhel, used to
consume the city’s children, according to legend.

Locals killed the victim in a variety of ways. The residents were concerned that the demon’s spirits might reawaken and harm the children. As a result, the spirit of Gurumapa gets trampled underfoot by the horse every year on Chaitra Krishna Aunsi. Also, at the foot of the same tree tonight, food is handed to Gurumapa so that no kid in the city is threatened. The inhabitants of the capital are now certain that their children will not be threatened by their parents throughout the year as a result of this.

Even now, in Lalitpur, there is a practice of racing a blind horse to symbolize a horse parade.
