President Bhandari arrives in Pokhara

Kathmandu, March 28

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has arrived in Pokhara. She is in Pokhara to inaugurate the first national conference of the Judicial Committee. The Head-of-State landed here on a Nepal Army (NA) helicopter.

Upon her arrival at the touristic town, she was welcomed by Gandaki Province Chief Prithviman Gurung, Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Nepali, Gandaki province government ministers, former minister Padma Aryal, Province Assembly members, and Pokhara metropolis deputy- mayor Manjudevi Gurung.

Representatives from the judicial committees of all 753 local governments across the country have been invited to the event, according to the deputy mayor, who is also the chief of the judicial committee here.

Article 217 of the Constitution has guaranteed the presence of a three-member judicial
committee in every local government under the convenorship of the vice-chairpersons of rural municipalities and the deputy mayors of municipalities, sub-metropolises, and metropolises to exercise power to hear cases, as entrusted to the local government.

The committee aims to ensure the people’s easy access to justice.
