Kathmandu will host the first economics conference

Kathmandu, March 24

In Kathmandu, the first National Economists Conference will be held. On Friday, the National Economic Concern Society of Nepal will hold a conference at the National Assembly. The goal of the conference, which will be placed on March 26, according to the organization’s Chairman Ganga Bahadur Thapa, is to provide advice to the major political parties on the condition of the economy and its fundamental challenges.

Low economic growth, poverty, inequality, unemployment, subsistence agriculture, new capital expenditure, high inflation, large trade imbalance, insufficient infrastructure and industrial base, remittance-oriented economy, and import-oriented revenue will all be discussed during the conference.

Participants include representatives from the finance minister, past Prime Minister, Planning
Commission, Nepal Rastra Bank, Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry,
and major political parties, as well as university authorities. Working papers on nine topical
economic challenges will be presented during the conference, according to the organizers.
