A Russian-built BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully tested by India.
In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the surface-to-surface missile was tested on Wednesday.
Flying at three times the speed of sound, this supersonic cruise missile can hit targets.
It was able to attain its long-range aim during the test, according to Indian officials.
Air Chief Marshal BR Chaudhary of the Indian Army congratulated the team after the missile test. The test site was visited by Chaudhary himself.
‘BrahMos’ is the name of this supersonic cruise missile. The river Brahmaputra in India and the Russian port of Moscow are both named after it. Submarines, surface vessels, planes, and even the ground may attack it. It is one of the world’s fastest supersonic cruise missiles.
Last December, the air model of the BrahMos missile was successfully tested. According to
Indian authorities, the missiles will now be fitted to fighter planes.
