Kathmandu, March 20

A group of Maoist Center leaders is joining the CPN-UML party, including outgoing provincial
lawmaker Thammar Bista, who has left the CPN-Maoist Center.

Ishwor Pokharel, the CPN-UML’s Senior Vice President, arrived in Surkhet on Sunday to
welcome Bista to the party.

Other Maoist Center district-level leaders, including Bista, have decided to join the UML.
Bista said he left the party because the party failed to lead in the direction of nationalism,
national independence, development, and prosperity, first by sending cadres to the streets and then passing the US aid project Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC).
