Advisors mustn’t be ambiguous in political stance, deviate from right direction: CPPCC chief

Wang Yang, chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, urged all political advisors to deepen understanding of the achievements of the times, enhance political understanding of the theories of the Communist Party of China, and shoulder the responsibility of uniting wisdom and strength of all Chinese, including those residing overseas, at the closing meeting of the fifth session of the 13th National Committee of the CPPCC on Thursday.

Advisors may have different views on some topics, but they mustn’t be ambiguous in their political stance, must uphold political principles, and mustn’t deviate from right political direction. They should tell right from wrong when surrounded by diverse ideas, Wang said.

Wang also asked all political advisors to continue the people-centered path, which ensures vitality of the CPPCC system and advantage of China’s whole-process people’s democracy.

Advisors should raise proposals centering on people’s concerns and expectations, assist the Party and the government to address livelihood problems, and communicate national policies to people, to create a social atmosphere of solidarity, Wang said.

At the just concluded annual session of the CPPCC National Committee, advisors raised 5,979 pieces of proposals, with 38 percent on economic topics and 31 percent on social topics, followed by 12 percent on ecological civilization and 10 percent on political building.
