Kathmandu, March 3
Today, the Sherpa community is celebrating Gyalpo Lhosar across the country by organizing a variety of events.
As per the Lunar calendar, the Gyalpo Lhosar is celebrated on Falgun Shukla Pratipada, which is believed to be the beginning of the year.
This year, Sherpa people are celebrating the 2149th Gyalpo Lhosar by exchanging greetings, cleaning houses, alleys, and water resources, and eating Guthuk, a mix of nine different foods.
This festival is seen as an opportunity to promote social harmony, reunion, and reconciliation among relatives and family members.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari has extended Lhosar greetings on the occasion of Gyalpo Lhosar, expressing hope that it will help foster social harmony, brotherhood, and goodwill among Nepali people living in the country and abroad.
Similarly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba extended Lhosar greetings, stating that Nepal is rich in tribal, linguistic, religious, and cultural terms.
