The National Consumers Forum has protested against the government’s decision to increase the price of raw milk by Rs. 6.52 per liter. The forum protested after the cabinet meeting increased the price of milk to Rs. 56.04 per liter. The forum said, “Even though the price of milk sold by farmers has been increased, the old support price has not been received.” This decision has deceived both the farmers and the consumers. ‘After the government’s decision, the consumer price has gone up by Rs. 9.
The forum has demanded immediate rectification as the consumer price hike by the Dairy Development Corporation is malicious and irresponsible. “The Dairy Industry Association and the Dairy Association have increased the consumer price by one rupee more than the price hike by the government,” said Premlal Maharjan, chairman of the forum. Maharjan has demanded that the government take this issue seriously and take legal action against the industrialists working against the established rules and regulations and consumer interests.
