The Election Commission has stated that it is the responsibility of the government to complete the local level by fixing the date of the election. As the tenure of the local level is coming to an end, the Election Commission has stated that it is the responsibility of the government to complete the local level election by holding the local level election before Jesth 5.
Komal Prasad Dhamala, Joint Secretary and Joint Spokesperson of the Commission, said that the member elected on the seventh day of the first election after the commencement of the Local Level Election Act as per Article 3 and Article 55 is considered to have been elected.
Looking at the basis of the election held on Jesth 30, 2074 BS, he mentioned that the current term of office will end from 12 noon on Jesth 5. Joint Spokesperson Dhamala said that since the election is a political and legal issue and there is a time limit of 120 days for the preparation of the election, if the government fixes the date of the election soon, it will be easier to get involved in all kinds of preparations.
The Election Commission has said that all the information related to the local level election and tenure has been formally provided to all the political parties.
