A Turkish court has ordered the arrest of renowned journalist Sedef Kabas for allegedly making offensive remarks about Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on a live television program, CNN Turkey reported on Saturday.
During the program, Sputnik reported that the journalist referred to President Erdogan’s
policies on live TV as “cattle in the palace”. Under Turkish law, insulting the president is a
criminal offense. Kabas’s remarks drew widespread attention on social media and drew strong reactions from Turkish officials.
Omer Celik, press secretary for the ruling Justice and Development Party, called the remarks “immoral and foolish”. On Saturday, a Turkish court decided to arrest the journalist, CNN Turkey reported.
