Do not vaccinate differently: Ministry of Health

Kathmandu, January 21

The Ministry of Health and Population has requested that the vaccine be given as a second or booster dose.

According to Dr. Sameer Kumar Adhikari, Joint Spokesperson of the Ministry, the
recommendation has been made as another vaccination may cause different reactions in the body. He says, ‘We have recommended to get the same vaccine that we have given earlier. We do not recommend mixing one vaccine with another. ‘

According to him, Covishield and AstraZeneca vaccines have the same texture. Therefore, it
would not make any difference to put AstraZeneca in place of AstraZeneca, Covishield in place of AstraZeneca. But the government has not recommended that people wearing covishields or astragalus be given a veracell, the spokesman said.

”The reaction to the vaccine may be different,” he says. It can cause other reactions in the
body. Therefore, I request everyone to get the same amount of vaccine that we have given
earlier. ‘
