The delusion that omicron is normal: World Health Organization

Kathmandu, January 19

The head of the World Health Organization has said that it is a delusion to consider the new
variant of Covid-19 as normal.

The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Speaking at a press
conference in Geneva, Tedros Adanom Gebreis said it was a delusion to consider the new
Omicron as a normal variant. He also said that it was wrong to think that Omicron had
eliminated the risk posed by the corona virus.

Although the Omicron variant may be less lethal than other variants, it should not be
overlooked, said Gabrias. ”The claim that it is a common disease is misleading,” he said.

Gabrias also warned that a new variant could be seen with the unnatural growth of Omicron
around the world, and that the Covid epidemic would not end immediately. He warned world leaders that ”with the unnatural growth of Omicron around the world, new variants are likely to appear and that is why it is necessary to monitor and evaluate.”

Gabrias also told a news conference that Omicron had added 18 million new infections
worldwide last week alone. He noted that the number of people vaccinated was low in many countries, and that people who were not vaccinated were at high risk of serious infection and death.

The latest statement from Gabrias comes at a time when daily covid infections are at an all-time high in some European countries.

The number of daily infections in Europe has skyrocketed since Omicron appeared as an active variant. As many as 4,64,769 new infections were reported in France on Tuesday.

Which is almost five times more than the one lakh 2 thousand 144 added on Monday.
Even in Italy, covid infection was confirmed in 228,179 people on Tuesday. While 83 thousand 403 new infected people were added there the day before.

Many infected people have been added in Denmark so far. According to the BBC, corona
infection was confirmed in 33,493 people there on Tuesday.
