Nine people involved in riots at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in 2019 received legal punishment on Saturday, with seven sentenced to between 38 and 40 months in prison. Two were sent to a correctional institution.
The verdicts were given by a District Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The eight men and one woman were found guilty in December, 2021.
Other than 15 people being charged after clashing with the police near the university in November 2019, more than 200 people involved in the PolyU siege were charged and more than 1,000 arrested. Previously, several people were also convicted.
