Boris Johnson’s party scandal in Lockdown: Senior leaders of the ruling party began demanding his resignation

Kathmandu, January 13

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has come under increasing pressure after the fact that a party
was held inside the office during the first lockdown in Britain.

Even Johnson has admitted that he organized a party with alcohol inside the Prime Minister’s Office during the first lockdown. He has even apologized for a party at his Downing Street office in May 2020. He also said that he understood the growing public outcry after the incident.

Meanwhile, senior leaders of the ruling Conservative Party have called for Johnson to resign as prime minister. Leaders including Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross, incumbent MPs William Ryag, Caroline Knox and Roger Gayle have demanded Johnson’s resignation, according to the BBC.

”He is the prime minister and his government has enforced these rules,” said Ross, who is also a member of parliament. ”He must be held accountable for his actions.”

However, cabinet members, including Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab, have sided with
Johnson. Recently, during the first lockdown, an email was leaked inviting more than 100
employees to a party. In the email, more than 100 employees of the Prime Minister’s Office on Downing Street were asked to bring alcohol to a party. The email was sent to employees in May 2020.

About 40 people, including Johnson and his wife Carrie, attended the banquet in the garden
inside the prime minister’s office. The banquet was the first of its kind in Britain.

However, Johnson was further criticized after an email was leaked stating that no more than two people were allowed to gather at the party.

The public outcry has also escalated after the fact that government officials themselves did not follow the restrictive rules regarding covid. The Johnson-led government has said it has not violated COVID-19 standards.
