Uncertain to open school, sure to get vaccinated students

Of the 4.5 million vaccines to be given to adolescent students in the Valley, about 40 percent have been distributed by Wednesday, which has increased the certainty that the vaccination target will be met, but there is no certainty that the school will reopen due to the increased corona infection. The Ministry of Health and Population has been vaccinating adolescents in the age group of 12-17 since last Friday. Moderna in Bhaktapur and Pfizer vaccine in Kathmandu and Lalitpur.

According to the Chiefs of Public Health Offices of the three districts, about 80 percent have
been vaccinated in Bhaktapur and about 40 percent in Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Kathmandu and Lalitpur have started vaccination campaign from Tuesday. It is estimated that the number of students will increase to around 300,000 as there is a plan to vaccinate 270,000 people in Kathmandu.

The local level education department has made arrangements to have a vaccination center in the school with more than 200 students and the school with lesser number of students. Lalitpur Health Office Chief Satish Bista estimates that 71,301 people will be vaccinated in the district.
