The CPN (Unified Socialist) has demanded that India stop the road expansion in the Lipulek
area. On Monday, Foreign Office Chief Jhala Nath Khanal issued a statement objecting to India’s illegal expansion of roads in the Lipulek area on Nepali soil and demanded a halt to the work.
He said that any development work in the area without discussion and agreement with the
Government of Nepal is illegal and a violation of Nepal’s national independence and
geographical integrity. The statement also urged the Government of Nepal to take appropriate steps for the protection of its land.
