UML Gulmi Convention: 3 Dalits elected as office bearers

CPN-UML has concluded its 11th district convention in Gulmi. UML youth leader Krishna
Bishwakarma informed that the tug-of-war for various posts including office bearers was held till last night but finally all the posts were decided unanimously. According to Bishwakarma, Bal Singh Kauchha was unanimously elected as the chairman, Krishna Sunar as the vice-chairman, Ganesh Sripali as the secretary, Dharma Bishwakarma as the deputy secretary and Sabitra Acharya as the deputy secretary.

For the first time in Gulmi, three Dalit communities have got leadership in the office bearers. Vice President Sunar is also a candidate for the National Assembly. Secretary Sripali (Bishwakarma) is a former personal secretary to former minister Gokarna Bista. Deputy Secretary Bishwakarma is a former Maoist leader. After Sudarshan Baral of the CPN (Maoist Center) and Jeevan Rana of the Rastriya Janamorcha, Bal Singh Kauchha of the CPN (UML) is the third person from the Janajati to become the district party chief. A 105-member district committee including office bearers has been elected.

Leaders including Deputy General Secretary Pradip Kumar Gyawali, Secretary Gokarna Raj Bista and Central Member Dinesh Panthi are administering the oath of office to the elected
committee this morning.
