Foreign Employment: Extension of six months to implement the demand letter received before the lockdown

Kathmandu, January 6

The government has given six months to implement the demand letter received from the
employer country to send Nepali workers for foreign employment before Falgun 2076.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha informed that the deadline for sending workers has been extended for six months due to practical difficulties as it is often costly, cumbersome and impossible to re-verify the demand received before the corona virus epidemic.

For the implementation of the demand letter received before 2076 BS, the period has been
extended for six months from 22nd Mangsir, 2078 to Jestha 21, 2079.

With this decision of the government, more than 30,000 demands received before the
lockdown caused by the corona virus epidemic will be implemented. According to the Ministry, the decision was taken in accordance with the Foreign Employment Demand Inquiry Directive, 2075 BS.

Due to the corona virus epidemic, the government had stopped sending Nepali workers for
foreign employment from Falgun 26, 2076. As the international flights are being operated now and there is a demand for workers from the employer countries, the deadline for sending workers has been extended for six months as per the demand letter already received.
