‘G Storm,’ final installment in the ‘Storm’ pentalogy, wins big at China’s New Year box office

Director David Lam’s latest action thriller film G Storm has earned an estimated 360 million yuan ($56.7 million) over the four-day New Year weekend, putting it at No.3 at the holiday box office.

The last installment in the Storm pentalogy comprised of Z Storm (2014), S Storm (2016), L Storm (2018) and P Storm (2019), the latest film follows ICAC investigator William Luk (Louis Koo) as he investigates a case linked to an international human trafficking ring.

According to the director, the new film focuses on the fight against human trafficking in order to pay tribute those “who never gave up on their mission of defending justice.”
