In India, corona infections are almost five times higher in a week

In India, the number of Covid-19 infections has increased almost five-fold in a week.

In the last 24 hours, 33,750 new infections have been reported in India. One week ago, 7,031 new infections were added. But today, the number of daily infections has increased almost five times, according to the Indian Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry, 123 people have died and 10,846 have been infected with the virus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the number of people infected with the new Omicron variant, which is spreading rapidly in India, has reached 1,710. So far, Maharashtra, Delhi and Kerala have been most affected by Omicron found in 23 states.

Most of the Omicron infected are in Maharashtra. As of Monday, 510 people had been infected with the variant.

According to Indian media, this variant has been confirmed in 351 people in Delhi, which is in the second place in the list of most infected with Omicron.

Similarly, 156 in Kerala, 135 in Gujarat, 121 in Tamil Nadu and 120 in Rajasthan have seen
omicron. The total number of infected people in Karnataka has reached 76 with the addition of Omicron in 10 people on Monday.

Other Indian states where Omicron has spread are Haryana (63), Odisha (37), West Bengal (20), Andhra Pradesh (17), Madhya Pradesh (9), Uttar Pradesh (8), Uttarakhand (8), Chandigarh (3) and Jammu. Kashmir (3) and Andaman and Nicobar Islands (2). So far, 1-1 people have been infected with Omicron in Goa, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Manipur and Punjab, according to The Mint.
