Attempts to assassinate Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry have failed, according to
international media reports.
Attempts to assassinate Henry were foiled at a rally in the town of Gonaives on Wednesday,
according to CGTN. According to reports, gunmen opened fire on a ceremony marking the
218th anniversary of Haiti’s independence.
Henry was shot in an attempt to assassinate him. One person was killed and several others
were injured in the blast. However, Henry was reported to have survived the attack.
Before the shooting, a local gang warned the prime minister not to attend any of the events in Gonaives. Haiti’s Independence Day celebrations have been postponed following a failed assassination attempt on the prime minister.
