Standing committee meeting to elect Maoist office bearers

The CPN-Maoist has convened a standing committee meeting to discuss the selection of central office bearers. The meeting is being prepared at Pragya Bhawan in Kamaladi. Though the election process started on Saturday under the party’s eighth national general convention, the election process was postponed till 2 pm today saying that the central committee would be selected based on consensus.

In the meantime, various formal and informal discussions have taken place between the leaders. According to standing committee member Giriraj Mani Pokharel, the leadership is preparing accordingly as it has been suggested that it would be better to announce the central committee first and the office bearers. The CPN (Maoist Centre) constitution has a provision of 15 members including the chairperson.
