Demand for arrangement of senior leader in Maoists keeping party unity in mind

There is a demand for the appointment of a senior leader at the CPN-Maoist center. While
presenting the results of the group discussion in the closed session of the National General
Convention, Team Leader of Group 13 Gopal Sharma demanded to include a senior leader in the Legislature considering the possible party unity in the future.

“There should also be a system of senior leaders, taking into account possible party unity,” he said. According to the leaders, since the party may unite with Madhav Nepal in the near future, Sharma intends to make it clear in the constitution now.

In the proposed amendment to the CPN (Maoist Center)’s constitution, only senior vice
president, vice president, general secretary, secretary, deputy general secretary and treasurer have been provided. Sharma also suggested that there should be a directly elected system for leadership selection.

He stressed on the need to decide on the office bearers only through the general convention. Stating that the committee should be proportionally inclusive as per the provisions of the constitution, he opined that there should be an effective plan to make the party dynamic.
