In order for the party to be strong, the people’s organization must be effective: Deputy Secretary General Gurung

CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung has stressed on the need for effective people’s organization to strengthen the party. In the inaugural session of the Central Committee Meeting of Press Chautari Nepal which started in Lumbini from today, he
mentioned that the role of the people’s organization would be important to elevate the party and gain public opinion.

Stating that the UML has brought the concept of people’s organization to strengthen the party, Deputy General Secretary Gurung said that the leadership should move forward by properly managing the organization. He, who is also the head of the party’s propaganda department, urged the party to be vigilant as organizational anarchy would weaken the party.

He said that the people’s organizations affiliated to the party should move forward accordingly to achieve the party’s goal of national unity, independence and prosperity. “Even if the policy is right, the organization will not be successful if the leadership is not right. Implementing the policy requires capable leadership with determination,” said Gurung.

UML Standing Committee Member Bhanubhakta Dhakal said that the people’s organization
should play a role in establishing the party in the hearts of the people. He said that the role of the people’s organization would be to establish itself as the first party in the elections of all the three levels by promoting good deeds.

UML Politburo member Surya Thapa suggested to learn from the past weaknesses and move forward by uniting the organization. Khim Lal Bhattarai, a member of the party’s politburo and chief whip of the party in the National Assembly, urged not to be stingy in promoting good deeds.

Bishnu Rijal, deputy chief of the party’s publicity department, and Ganesh Basnet, chairman of Chautari, stressed on the need for unity and commitment of all to strengthen the organization. The meeting has an agenda to discuss issues including setting the date of Chautari’s Ninth National General Convention, State and District Conventions, organizational and financial report.
