Judge Khadka’s explanation: I have not corrected, the Judicial Council has made a mistake

Kathmandu, December 24

Supreme Court Judge Mira Khadka has given an explanation in the controversy over her date of birth.

In a statement issued on Monday, Khadka said that she had obtained only one citizenship and her date of birth was 2/2/2014. She said that even though she was 19 years old in the
citizenship she got from the District Administration Office on 28 Magh 2033, the date of birth in all the educational certificates and other documents is still 2/2/2014.

However, in the course of publishing the Judicial Council Bulletin, for some years, her date of birth was mentioned as 28/10/2013 and she said that the Council has corrected that error.

Judge Khadka said in a statement that since the council itself corrected the error, it was
mentioned in the Judicial Council bulletins published from 2071 BS to 2078 BS that my actual date of birth was 2/2/2014.

Judge Khadka said that it was not appropriate for the Judicial Council to question her personal character when she mistakenly wrote her personal details differently.

“I have no reason to correct my date of birth and I have not done so,”she said in a statement, adding that her academic credentials contained “complete and accurate details of her date of birth”.
