Kathmandu, December 23
Chairman of the CPN-Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said that the current ruling alliance will not be broken due to the US aid project Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC).
In an interview with News Agency Nepal, he said that the alliance would not break even if the MCC was not passed immediately. Stating that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was also in favor of making some amendments in the MCC agreement, Prachanda said that the alliance would not be broken because of the MCC even if it took some time.
At the meeting of the coalition, the Prime Minister also said that there is room for
improvement. It should not be broken and it should not be allowed to be broken, ”he said.
Prachanda said that he had discussed the issue with the Prime Minister and experts on MCC but agreed to discuss it after the National Conference of the Maoist Center.
Stating that the official document of the MCC agreement did not have the approval of the
parliament but was included later, Prachanda said that this has raised concerns. “Wherever there is an error in this matter, the provision which has made it difficult for us has to be amended if necessary. As it is a serious and sensitive issue, maximum consensus has to be reached between the political parties,” Prachanda said.
However, Prachanda said that a difficult situation would arise if any attempt was made to pass the bill by force.
