Kathmandu, December 23
The first meeting of the working group of the ruling coalition formed to reach an
agreement on the United States Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement
has been held.
Preliminary discussions on the agreement started at a meeting held at the residence of
CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Jhala Nath Khanal in Dallu yesterday.
Minister for Information and Communication Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki
informed that the preliminary discussions were positive.
The ruling coalition parties had formed a three-member task force to discuss the MCC
with other parties and reach a settlement. The task force includes Khanal, leader of the
Unified Socialists, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, leader of the CPN (Maoist Center) and Karki,
Minister for Information and Communication Technology.
The task force was tasked to conduct necessary consultations and discussions with the
parties on various issues under consideration in the parliament from the time it was
convened.
