Home Minister Bal Krishna Khan has said that it is the responsibility of the government
to move the MCC agreement forward. Talking to reporters in Janakpur on Tuesday,
Home Minister Khan said that the MCC agreement was started during the previous
government and it was the responsibility of the government to move the agreement
forward.
He said that the proposal of MCC was put forward by the Government of Nepal for the
development of the country. He claimed that the MCC project was not a loan but an
unconditional grant.
“There may be some confusion about the MCC. The US government is running a
project related to poverty alleviation and employment. Under this, the Government of
Nepal has proposed for construction of transmission line and construction of road. And
they have accepted that. Discussions are ongoing between the parties. Discussions
lead to conclusions and move forward.” he said.
