Murder inside the temple for trying to insult a religious text

Kathmandu, December 19

A man has been killed at the Golden Temple, a holy site for Sikhs in Amritsar, India.
According to Indian media, a man was killed on Saturday for trying to insult the holy scriptures of Sikhism by entering the Golden Temple.

According to the police, a 24–25-year-old youth was beaten to death for trying to insult the
religious book Guru Granth Sahib. It is mentioned in the news that the slain youth is a resident of Uttar Pradesh. When the youth entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Guru Granth Sahib temple and tried to pick up his sword, he was taken under control by the security guards and devotees present.

He was beaten to death by an angry mob before police arrived at the scene. An investigation into the incident is currently underway. The incident, which took place in the run-up to the Punjab Assembly elections in February-March, has been condemned by many, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

“What happened at Shri Durbar Sahib today is very sad. “Everyone is shocked," Kejriwal said. “It could be a big conspiracy.” The culprit should be punished severely. ‘ Similarly, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channy condemned the incident and directed the police to find out the motive behind the incident and act against the culprits.

Opposition Akali Dal MP Balwinder Bhunder also said that Saturday’s incident was deliberately reduced to weaken Punjab. “Some people have been making it a political game for the last five years,” he said.
