Kathmandu, December 16
Defense Minister Minendra Rijal has resigned. He announced his resignation as soon as the preliminary
results came out.
Shekhar had competed with Sher Bahadur Deuba along with the panel in the 14th General Convention
of the Nepali Congress. Shekhar lost the second round of elections for the post of chairman and Deuba
has been elected chairman.
Dr. Rijal had said that his group should not seek the participation of individuals in the party but should
represent the views.
