A cultural event focusing on promoting artful lifestyles through space design was launched in Guilin, South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The event will display three spaces designed by artists with different creative talents. The three spaces interpret stories of falling cherry blossoms, the home of an artist, and a little jolly white house.

Despite their differences, they all focus on “home” designs. Visitors to the event will be welcomed to walk into these “homes” to see how a living environment can change people’s everyday experiences and their moods.

“Similar events can be seen emerging in still-developing Chinese cities like Guilin and Sanya in South China’s Hainan Province. They show how people’s everyday lives are sustained thus they want a new window to explore the ‘higher’ experiences that everyday life can bring,” Li Gu’ai, a cultural researcher in Chengdu, told the Global Times on Thursday.

Guilin is a city known for its spectacular mountain-river landscape. Its cultural event’s venue is surrounded by such elements in adherence to the event’s other goal of promoting local tourism.

“In order to promote Guilin as a world-class tourist city, we should present good artworks here. At the exhibition, we hope to integrate tourism and culture through the carefully created spaces from the three designers,” Bing Enxin, a representative of the event organizer Xinchang Group, told media.

In addition, a forum was also launched on Sunday, during which the three designers invited their fellow workers in the industry to discuss topics such as the beauty of space design, and shared their tips about how art can be used to nurture commercial-oriented cultural projects.

The event was co-organized by the Xinchang Group and Yiwenli Production.
