President Vladimir Putin arrived in India on Monday. He is in New Delhi to attend the 21st India-Russia Conference being held in India.
Putin’s visit to India for a few hours has draw worldwide attention. Putin has rarely travelled abroad since the Corona epidemic hit his country. This year, Putin has only visited Geneva and Delhi, so this visit is considered important.
During his visit, various agreements have been signed between Russia and India, including on defence. According to an agreement signed by Defence Ministers Rajnath Singh and Sergey Shoigu in the presence of Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the AK-203 assault rifle will be manufactured in India. According to the agreement, India will purchase 600,000 AK-203 rifles from 2021 to 2031.
The transfer of the S-400 missile defence agreement is considered very important. According to Indian media, the US is likely to impose sanctions on India over the deal. India still imports about 80 percent of its defence equipment from Russia.
