Lingden’s belief in Kamal Thapa: We will be together in the coming days
RPP’s newly elected chairman Rajendra Lingden has said that there will be no loss respect for the former chairpersons.
Lingden defeated incumbent Kamal Thapa in the counting of votes that ended on Sunday morning. Thapa did not attend the swearing in of the new executive committee saying that former king Gyanendra Shah had intervened.
Lingden, who was elected as the chairperson, said that they would not have imagined RPP without Thapa. Stating that he expects not only parents but also active political role from former presidents Thapa, Pashupati Shamsher Rana and Prakash Chandra Lohani, he said, “Talking about change of leadership does not mean keeping you out of RPP. We just want to change the driver.”
He said that Thapa’s activism to keep the party’s ideology alive could never be underestimated. Stating that Thapa is still needed in the party, Chairman Lingden said, “If he were here today, there would be fragrance in gold. I believe again, we will be together in the coming days.”
