Shankar Pokharel has been unanimously elected as the General Secretary from the 10th National General Convention held in Sauraha, Chitwan.
The Election Committee has stated that Pokharel has become the unanimous secretary general as no other candidates have been nominated within the nomination registration period on Monday.
He was defeated by the post of Deputy Secretary General from the Ninth General Convention. Pokharel, who from Dang, is also the former chief minister of Lumbini.
Bishnu Poudel was also a contender for the post of General Secretary. Party President Oli had nominated Poudel as vice-president and Pokharel as general secretary. Although Pokharel became the unanimous secretary general, Poudel has to face the election.
