US Assistant Secretary of State arrives in Nepal today

US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu is visiting Nepal today. Lu, which is in charge of South and Central Asian Affairs, will arrive in Kathmandu on Wednesday evening.

While in Nepal, he is scheduled to meet with political leaders, including Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. He arrived in Nepal at a time when the US government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) was failing to move forward. The MCC signed in 2017 has not been implemented due to lack of approval from the Parliament of Nepal.
