Nepal Bar decides to start agitation if Chief Justice does not resign

The Nepal Bar Association, an umbrella organization of legal practitioners, has concluded that Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JBR should resign. A meeting of the Central Committee of the Nepal Bar Association has concluded that Chief Justice JBR should resign in the face of serious allegations against the leadership of the judiciary.

After the meeting, Advocate Lilamani Poudel, General Secretary of the Nepal Bar Association said that there is no alternative to Chief Justice JBR’s resignation saying that the independence of the court was undermining the impartially of the judiciary. Secretary General Poudel also said that if the Chief Justice does not resign, the association will be forced to announce the program of the movement through bar units across Nepal.
